Survey of Benson farm, October 28, 1790

Parker Barnes surveyed the land of John Benston [Benson] by an order of the court on October 28, 1790. U.B. Quinby copied this public record 2 November, 1882. Quinby notes on the map that "This 100 Acres was devised by Moses Benston to his son, James Benston. Quinby also copied a Benson survey performed in 1798.

Deed of Trust from Sarah Duer to John R. Floyd, 15 December 1865

This deed, dated 15 December 1865, describes the granting of 160 acres in Accomack County belonging to Sarah A. Duer. Duer granted the property to John R. Floyd in trust for Thomas S. Richardson, as security for the debt (2,000) Duer owed to Richardson.

Receipt of Tax on the Deed of Scarborough Plain

This receipt confirms that Thomas S. Richardson paid the county tax ($3.80) on his purchase of Scarborough Plain in Accomack County at auction in 1879. The receipt is dated January 12, 1880.

Deed of Sale between William R. Kennerly and wife and Georgie Quinby, 1 April 1885

This deed describes the transfer of a tract of land in Northampton County from William R. and Elizabeth E. Kennerly to Georgie Quinby for $110.

Memoranda of U.B. Quinby Regarding the Stockley Kellam Farm

These memoranda include a title search on the Stockley Kellam farm and information on improvements that U.B. Quinby made to the farm's infrastructure.

Deed of Sale between Bennett Fentress and J.T. Powell and U.B. Quinby, 28 August 1882

This deed describes the transfer of a 200 acre tract of land in Accomack County in Upshur's Neck from Bennett Fentress to John T. Powell and Upshur B. Quinby for $3,500. The two buyers held an equal share in the property. A right of way through the Fentress property was also conveyed.

Bond of Nathaniel LeCato to Henry Voss

Nathaniel LeCato of New York City wrote this bond in 1873 for $300 to Henry Voss of New Jersey. U.B. Quinby purchased the bond in 1883, from a broker that had purchased if from Voss' widow. U.B. Quinby agreed to hold the Benson property in lien against the bond (see Quinby's memo, December 2, 1882). Voss' map of the Benson property is included.

Sale of Benson Farm to Upshur B. Quinby

This deed describes the property known as the "Benson" farm that Georgie Quinby purchased from L.T. LeCato and others on 6 November 1882. Quinby purchased the 136 acre lot near Bell Haven for $1320.00.

Land Book Memorandum, 1880

This list itemizes Thomas D. Richardson's lands for 1868 and 1879, and Richardson's and Upshur B. Quinby's lands for 1880. The list includes the size of each tract. The list was copied from Accomack County Land Books from the respective years.
