Notes on transfers of title of the Wooddie land

Page one traces the title of the Wooddie property, page two traces the title change of the Tyler land. Both properties are located in Accomack County.

Plat of Snead's and Cole's Beaches on Cedar Island, 1793

This 1793 plat shows the 250 acre tract of land known as Snead's Beach, on the north side of Cedar Island. It is copied from the surveyor's record.

Settlement of Mrs. Duer

This memo records the financial settlement between Duer and Thomas S. Richardson, assignee of A.J. Wood, from 1860 to 1865 amounting to $2,000.

Receipt of LeCato shares bought by Georgie Quinby, 1 January 1883

This receipt records Georgie Quinby's purchase of several shares of the Benson Farm, a property near Bell Haven owned jointly by members of the LeCato family. Quinby purchased four shares for $110 each on January 1, 1883.

Receipt of Pitts share of "Benson" bought by Georgie Quinby, February 1885

This receipt recorded Georgie Quinby's purchase of Thomas G. Pitts' share of the Benson Farm near Bell Haven, which he had held "in life-estate as tenant by the curtesy." Quinby paid Pitts $150.

Farm Ledger of Upshur B. Quinby, 1896-1897

This farm ledger records Upshur B. Quinby's transactions during 1896 and 1897 for 14 of his land holdings. Included in the ledger are the terms under which sharecroppers worked, tenants' names, purchase and sale prices of crops, and income and expenditure for each farm.

Deed of Sale between Joseph C. Wescott and Upshur B. Quinby, 20 October 1882

This deed describes the transfer of a 170 acre tract of land in Accomack County at Middlesex from Joseph C. Wescott to Upshur B. Quinby for $2,000.

Deed of the Onancock Academy Property, 1894

This deed describes the sale of the Onancock Academy Property, including desks and other school related items, to Upshur B. Quinby and others in April 1894. Quinby et al. purchased the 1.5 acre property at auction for $2,949.

Deed of Sale of Cedar Island land to U.B. Quinby and B.S. Rich, 13 August 1873

This deed, dated 13 August 1873, described U. B. Quinby and B.S. Rich's purchase of the Topping property on Cedar Island. Quinby and Rich agreed to pay $20 for the 65 acre tract.
