Transportation -- Railroad - Litigation

The motions to the county court of certain landowners along the line of the railroad in Northampton, for the appointment of three freeholders to ascertain what cattle guard should be erected on their property were discussed at Eastville on Monday. -- Judge Parramore presiding. They were made by Judge Neale and Fitchett and opposed by Mr. Browne for the Company.

Laborers -- FarmLaborers -- Wages

Messrs. Thomas C. Kellam and John T. Bull of Locustville, recently secured farm hands from Norfolk at $8 per month, for themselves and other farmers in their vicinity. They have proved to be such faithful and efficient workers that Mr. Kellam was sent to Norfolk again this week to secure another batch of them for his neighbors.

On last Monday, a negro known in this community as "Big Six" was so severely cut in a difficulty at Cape Charles by another negro, one Henry Watts, that he is not expected to live.
