Messrs. Thomas C. Kellam and John T. Bull of Locustville, recently secured farm hands from Norfolk at $8 per month, for themselves and other farmers in their vicinity. They have proved to be such faithful and efficient workers that Mr. Kellam was sent to Norfolk again this week to secure another batch of them for his neighbors.

The Eastern Shore Steamboat Co. will carry the mail four years, under a recent contract made with the government, says a Baltimore Sun correspondent.

A reward of five dollars is offered for the return of a valuable pointer dog, which strayed away or was stolen recently from the premises of Rev. W. C. Vaden, Onancock.

Capt. John E. Mears of Locustmount, after an absence of several weeks, and mourned as dead, returned home recently. For several weeks his schooner was ice bound in Morris river about fifteen miles from any postoffice, so that he could not communicate with his family, hence their fears.

A postoffice, "a long felt want" in this community is soon to be established here.
The sentiment of our people in reference to the court house is "to have it repaired and let it remain where it is."

A committee of farmers from this station interviewed Mr. R. B. Cooke, general passenger and freight agent of N.Y., Phila. & Norfolk railroad at Norfolk last Tuesday, in reference to freight rates by rail. The interview was satisfactory, and the farmers of the Eastern Shore need have no further fears on the subject.

The steamer Tangier came here last Saturday and was detained on account of the ice for several days.
During the past week, for the first time this winter, we have had good skating ice and it has been very much enjoyed by the young people, especially by the boys.
