Laborers -- Farmfields -- Crops - White potatoes : Yield
Eastville, Va., July 31. -- The white potato crop has now about all gone to the markets. The crop in this county has been the largest in its history and will total over 300,000 barrels. The yield was in some cases splendid, reaching over 100 barrels to the acre, while others had poor luck. The crop has put a good deal of money in circulation and those who have held back until last week and thus have obtained good prices. The truckers are trying to get their work up, as it is hard to get the laborers of this section to work during August.
The county fairs also take many away from work on the farms for the month.

Many other special events will attract visitors to the nation's fair today.
Today promises to be one of the busiest which the Exposition has had for many weeks. There are conventions and a half a dozen special events scheduled for today and thousands of people are expected at the fair.
The day will be celebrated as German-American Day and also as Eastern Shore day. An elaborate program of special events has been announced by the management for the entertainment of the visitors. More than a thousand are expected to arrive on special steamers from Cape Charles this morning.
One of the features of the celebration will be a base ball game to be played on the Athletic Field between teams from Accomac and Northampton counties.
So far as special events are concerned today records more than any one previous day of the entire Exposition, and with favorable weather, it will doubtless be one of the most successful of the Exposition up to this time.
Lincoln Beachy, the daring aeronaut, will make his first airship ascension today of the present series. He returns to the Exposition for a two weeks' engagement.
