THE PRESIDENT-ELECT BAGS A NUMBER OF BRANT AND DUCKS.
He May Remain Ten Days on His Island -- He Discriminates Somewhat as to Callers.
[By telegraph to the Dispatch.]
KELLER, VA., November 25. -- President-elect Cleveland went shooting in the sheltered places of Hog Island yesterday, taking Mr. Jefferson with him. They bagged some small game and snipe. To-day he went into the bay and shot from blinds, killing a good bag of brant and ducks. He is an excellent shot. The Broadwater Club, of course, gave him the best and most experienced guides.
COMFORTABLY QUARTERED.
He is quartered at Mr. Ferrell's cottage, which has all the modern conveniences as to steam-heating, lighting, water, etc. He gives free audience to the natives, but refuses to see any one from a distance. The probabilities are that he will spend a week or ten days on the island.
NEWSPAPER CORRESPONDENTS MIXED.
Several newspaper correspondents have got badly mixed in the geography of this section, exaggerating and shortening distances; also, in the statement that the club owns all the island and can prevent any boat from landing.
