African-Americans -- Work - Agriculture
Onancock, (Accomac Co.), Va., August 28.
There lives in Accomac a white man, who has never been out of this county and has never seen an engine not a steamboat.
B. T. Coard, a negro living near Accomac C. H., recently purchased a farm, for which he did not pay anything down. He set out 58,000 potato sprouts and has dug just half of the patch, for which he has received enough to pay for current expenses and pay $1,000 on the farm.
