TEMPERANCE.

Moral -- Alcohol

The following, reported by a gentleman present, we very cheerfully give a place in our columns; "The meeting of the Onancock Friends of Temperance took place, as announced, on the 31st. of July, at the Town Hall. Proceedings were conducted by the Rev. P. M. Leatherbury, and opened a little before 8 o'clock P. M. After music and prayer the assembly was addressed briefly in a most spirited manner by Mr. Geo. F. Parramore. The well selected phrases, happy expression and graceful delivery of the above gentleman met with the enthusiastic applause undoubtedly deserved; and gives to the friends of the young lawyer, lately come to the bar, worthy promise of laurels yet to be gathered and worn. More music followed, and a speech from Mr. W. T. Bundick, which was replete with statistical information, scientific knowledge of the subject, and moving appeals against the vice of intemperance. The audience, after a very pleasant hour, were dismissed by the Rev. F. M. Burch."
