Transportation -- Railroad - Construction
The Norfolk Public Ledger is exuberant over the probability that a railroad across the Eastern Shore of Virginia will be built to give a new connection between Norfolk and the North. It says such a road will revolutionize the trade and traffic of Accomac and Northampton counties, and enable Norfolk truckers to put their produce into the Northern markets from ten to twelve hours earlier than they now get them there.

Hog killing season is now in full blast. Mr. James P. Lilliston has killed one weighing 500 1/2.

African-Americans -- Racial violence
There was a lively time on the steamer Tangier last Tuesday night. Things were nicely readjusted. The boot gained by certain parties may prove useful to their manners in future.
