The Fourth Annual Exhibition of the Eastern Shore Agricultural Fair takes place on Tuesday 30th inst., and continues three days. Among the numerous attractions will be a fine band of music from Baltimore, a bicycle race, and a living skeleton, twenty-six years old, who weighs only seventeen pounds. A two story exhibition building has been erected, and exhibits will be displayed in good style. Mr. John W. White will keep the boarding tent, and he assures the public of first-class accommodations at reasonable rates. A large crowd will be in attendance, and all the indications point to a very successful exhibition.

Several meetings have recently been held in the lower part of our county by our farmers, with the view to secure unity of action, in the shipment of their sweet potatoes to New York this season. The grievance, which has brought about these meetings seems to have been the almost total loss of their Irish potato crop by many who shipped them to New York this year. They attribute their losses to various causes, but the conclusion seems to have been reached that the boatmen and commission merchants have dealt unfairly by them; the former, they say, by the careless handling and storage of their potatoes so bruised and overheated them as to render them unfit for market; the latter, they say, by their failure to make prompt returns inveigled them into sending them their whole crop, when they would have commanded better prices in other markets. The deliberations of said meetings resulted in the adoption of no definite line of action, but the majority of those opposed so strongly the "freighting of potatoes" to New York that they have in one section of our county practically diverted the trade from that city. Our boatmen and the commission merchants had better look into the matter.
