The Tangier [Sound] oyster, taken from the "great rock" in the bay, is hardly up to the standard. The Deep Creek, Hungars Creek and Cherrystone oysters rate next in quality. The cause of the general failure is attributed to the dry condition of the creeks which supply fresh water silt to the acres of hungry mouths below. The plants on the seashore are also poor, with very large shells. At Franklin City, Virginia, the crop is poor and, many say that the recent rains have come too late to do much good.

Fields -- Livestock - Sheep
A movement is on foot in the lower parish of our county, to secure the enactment of a dog law by the next Legislature. The grievance complained of is that the worthless curs that abound, kill the sheep to an extent that makes the raising of them unprofitable.
