OUR SEACOAST WATERING PLACES.
Tourists and sportsmen -- Other recreation - Resorts
The Philadelphia North American which devotes time and study to the condition of affairs in the South, makes a review of our springs and watering places, in the course of which it says:
The Southern seacoast is regaining former and adding new visitors. And though there are cooler noons than those furnished anywhere along those shallow waters boiled by August suns, the mornings are pleasant, the nights tempered by a sea breeze; and such birds and oysters as are procured near; such fish as are drawn from the deep waters beyond, might well atone for greater endurance. From Isle Berniers by Pass Christian, Mobile bay and Beaufort to the Virginia capes, the South has countless places along its litoral that are deservedly praised.
If the incarnate American would only take a look at Ocean View, Vue de l'Eau, Old Point and Cobb's island, he would see that we have not only substantial attraction in the present, and no "boiling" by August or other suns, but almost boundless promises of future success of our seacoast watering places.
