ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.
Proceedings, April Term, 1890.
Raymond R. Hutchinson, inspector of oysters, reported collections for quarter ending, February 28th, 1890, amounting to $294.02 -- due State $264.62.
The following fines were paid into court: L. F. J. Wilson, J.P., $5 fine and $1 clerk's costs received of H. B. Jarman, father of Chas. W. Jarman, convicted of assaulting and beating Wm. C. Truitt, and $5 fine and $1 clerk's costs, received of Jos. S. Pruitt, convicted of assaulting and beating Chas. W. Jarman; by Thos. W. Blackstone, J.P., $2.50 fine and $1 clerk's costs received of James W. Bell, convicted of assaulting and beating L. T. Stephens.
Wm. H. Boggs qualified as administrator of Thos. J. Davis, dec.
Stuart K. Powell obtained a certificate necessary to secure law license.
Accounts against Commonwealth in criminal cases were allowed as follows: S. R. Nelson, J.P., $3; J. H. Ayres, M.D., $2.50; Thos. W. Blackstone, J.P., $6; John H. Wise, sheriff and jailer, 4 accounts, $24.40, $4.50, $9.25, $130.45; O. D. Doughty, constable, $16.74.
Following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered to be recorded: Henry L. Upshur &c's trust account; audits of estates of Jas. P. Groton, Geo. Bradford, Hannibal Fletcher, Ann Shreaves, Jno. W. Kellam, Wm. T. Mears and Job Cropper; orphan accounts of Blanche M., Stella V., Henry C., Benj F., Bessie L. and Alice M. Ball.
L. J. Gunter was appointed captain and Thos. T. Lewis, assistant of chain gang. They duly qualified by taking oaths required of special police.
T. A. Northam and Geo. W. McMath, qualified respectively as Notary Public of county of Accomac.
Authority to celebrate rites of matrimony was granted to Rev. R. S. Williamson of M.P. Church and Louis E. Poulson of M.E. Church.
Order entered substituting Nathaniel S. Smith, trustee, in place of John Neely in deed from Edward Brinney for benefit of John W. Bunting.
Ex Parte; George Duffy's admr. Report of administrator filed, order confirming same and removing cause from docket.
Order removing from office, Cynthia A. Chandler, guardian of Jno. J., Vinnie L. and Cynthia T. Chandler, on motion of securities of her official bond.
Petition of Wm. T. Mason and others, to drain Hack's Neck road. John L. Harmanson and others, viewers made their report and same duly filed.

Nathaniel B. Conquest was appointed surveyor of roads, in place of A. S. Taylor, resigned.
Order entered releasing Jas. H. Bennett from jail because of inability to pay two fines and costs of prosecution for which he was detained.
Geo. J. Dix's admr. vs. J. Morgan Dix and others (on petition). Report of petitioners filed and order confirming.
Order entered exempting Isaiah T. Johnson from road duty.
Commonwealth vs. Puss Cropper and Sadie Walker (on indictment for housebreaking with intent to commit larceny). Cause continued on motion of defendants to 2nd day of next term and new venire facias awarded.
Commonwealth vs. Oliver Stran and John Barnes (on indictment for housebreaking with intent to commit larceny). Defendant tried, convicted of petit larceny, sentenced to term of 90 days each, in jail, to pay costs of prosecution and to work in chain gang.
Order entered that Howard Walker, convicted of petit larceny and confined in jail, be worked in chain gang.
Orders entered refusing bar room and other license to S. C. Mason, Masonville, I. T. Johnson and J. A. Scott, Jr., at Parksley.
Application entered by Emory D. Hinman for bar room retail license at Leemont and application withdrawn without action of the court.
Rules were awarded against John Dies, Thomas Dies and Edward Charnock for contempt in failing to appear as witnesses for the Commonwealth vs. Elisha Crockett.
Ex Parte: Jas. Kilmon of Jas., admr. Report of admr. filed and order confirming it entered.
Ex Parte: Petition of Florence M. Lewis' guardian. Report of guardian filed and order confirming.
Commonwealth vs. Laban C. Moore (on indictment for assault and battery). Defendant tried, convicted and fined $15 and costs of prosecution.
Commonwealth vs. Laban C. Moore (on indictment for selling ardent spirits in violation of local option law). Defendant tried and jury failing to agree, case was continued until next term of court.
Rule awarded vs. John H. Marshall for failing to make up his accounts as guardian of Wm. J. and Mille T. Gunter, orphans of Jas. H. Gunter, dec.
Commonwealth vs. Charles Drummond (on indictment for selling liquor without license). Defendant tried and acquitted.
Commonwealth vs. Arthur Justice on indictment for larceny of oysters. Defendant tried and acquitted.
Commonwealth vs. Wm. T. Bloxom (for selling ardent spirits in violation of local option law). Defendant tried and jury failing to agree continued until next term of court.
Commonwealth vs. Wm. Kilmon of Wm., (on rules). Dismissed for reasons appearing to the court.
List of delinquent lands purchased by the Commonwealth for years 1876-1883, inclusive, examined by the court, purged and corrected and certain tracts and parcels stricken from, because could not be located &c.
Ex Parte: John E. Ames' executors. Order entered removing from office R. T. Ames late sheriff and as such committee of Albert Lewis a person of unsound mind.
Petition of Jno. W. Bowdoin and others for a public bridge over Bethel Branch. Order entered appointing Dr. Jno. W. Bowdoin, a commissioner to receive proposals.
License to keep a hotel was granted Benj. T. Parker, Onancock; A. S. Kellam, Wachapreague; G. Lloyd Doughty, Belle Haven; D. A. Martin, Pungoteague; Wesley A. Bloxom, Locustville; Duffield Savage, Drummondtown.
