Memorandum of U.B. Quinby, 21 Dec. 1882

Transcription of document: The enclosed bond of L.T. LeCato, secured by his share of the deed on the "Benson" farm, has been assigned to me, and is to be held by me, for the purpose of keeping the lien of said deed alive, in order to prevent the enforcement of the lien of a judgement in favor of James R. Downing's Exec. vs. L.T. LeCato's estate. "Benson" has been conveyed to Mrs. Quinby, and this bond is held by me. The amt. of this bond is the exact amount ($220.00) paid by me for L.T. LeCato's share of "Benson." I took in the land from Clark, paying him that amount; and I have given to L.J. LeCato an agreement in writing in which I agree not to hold him bound for this bond, but to look exclusively to his share of "Benson" for payment of the bond. I did not pay L.T. LeCato anything, further than the amount paid to Clark for the land. Upshur B. Quinby, Dec. 21, 1882.
