Letter from R. T. Amos to U.B. Quinby, 7 October, 1875

In this letter, R.T. Amos responded to U.B. Quinby's letter of September 30, 1875, which inquired about T.R. Joynes and Joynes' wife, Nancy B. Joynes. Amos interpreted Nancy Joynes' will to give her dower, a one fourth interest in her father's land, to her husband T.R. Joynes upon Nancy's death. Amos explained that this will was of no effect. He further stated that he had "long thought that Mr. Joynes ought to be dispossessed of the land" because T.R. Joynes' interest in the property should have expired with Nancy Joynes' death. Quinby is seeking clear title of the Joynes property at Middlesex. Amos ends with a postscript asking Quinby for a loan of $100.
