December, 1914
The month of December was throughout cold and damp and gloomy. The highest of the thermometer was 69, on the first, the lowest was 5 on Christmas day, the mean average being 39.6. The 25th was the coldest December day in many, many years in this section, colder than any ever recorded. There was a rainfall of 6.8 inches, the heaviest in many months. The mean average temperature for the year 1914 was 58.5. The total rainfall for the year was 36.91 inches, somewhat below the average.
