Eastville, Va., March 8 -- The first bay shad of the season have reached this place and the sound of the fish horn reminds one that Spring is here.

Mr. R. W. Nottingham, clerk of the court, has turned in his semi-annual report to the Auditor to February 28th past. It shows that for the six months past 423 deeds were recorded, 41 common law suits were entered, and 23 chancery suits. The fees amounted to $715.00 and fines amounted to $916.00

The commission appointed to condemn the right of way for the new line of railroad to the Cape completed their work yesterday, and have met today in Cape Charles city to make their report.
