Eastville, Va., May 18. -- The Circuit Court of this county has been in session all of this week and is still engaged. The case of the Cape Charles Railroad Company vs. L. J. Whitehead and others has occupied the past two days. This is a matter in which condemnation proceedings were had to assess the damages to lands which the railroad wants for running track from Cape Charles City to Cape Charles. The commissioners made a report and put the figures so high that the railroad seeks to have it set aside except as to four of the defendants, the values of which were accepted. These were Mrs. Townsend, Mr. J. C. Core, J. C. Core and others, and Ernest Nottingham. The attorneys in the case are Captain John S. Wise and Mr. E. J. Spady for the railroad, and Hon. G. S. Kendall and Mr. O. F. Mears for the defendants.

The Onancock gas plant has been sold, to satisfy liens. The purchaser was Mr. William Conrad, of Onancock. He will at once improve the business. The price bid was $2500.

Mr. E. O. F. Custis, of Onancock, has sold his Scarborough Neck farm to a Baltimore man for $16,000. This is a fine place, and well timbered.
