Eastville, Va., February 13. -- "The Point" farm in Upshur's Neck, in lower Accomack, has been sold by the owners for the sum of $18,000. Lands in Accomack have advanced very much in price in the past two or three years.

There was a remarkable change in the weather last night. This morning the thermometer was as low as 20 and there has been little rise during the day. The open weather of January enabled the truckers to get their work advanced and numbers of them are ready to plant spring vegetables, only waiting for the weather to suit.

A large delegation of Northampton and Accomack members of the Masonic order left yesterday for Richmond to attend the meeting of the State Lodge, which begins there this evening.

Among the appropriations passed in Congress are those for Cape Charles City in the county, and Onancock, in Accomack. A number of the other waterways of the shore should have attention along this line. Convenience of water transportation is one of the great inducements of this section.

The will of the late William S. Christian was recently made public. He leaves to Hungars Episcopal Church one-third interest in his residuary estate after satisfying some legacies. The share the church will get will be about $1500. Hungars is thought to be the oldest church in the State in which there has been no break in the use for that purpose. It was erected about the year 1700, though the date cannot be fixed exactly, so it antedated old Bruton Church by some 15 years. An earlier church structure, build on the same site, dated back to about 1632. The record of these old churches is almost lost in obscurity, owing to the indifference shown by the people towards matters of local history.

Large quantities of oysters are being shipped from this section at this time. The best market prices are obtained, as the Eastern Shore oysters are of superior quality.
