Eastville, Va., January 12 -- Circuit Court has been going on in Accomack this week, Judge W. I. Clopton, of Manchester, presiding in the absence of Judge Blackstone, who is still very sick in the hospital in Newport News. The term has been a busy one, a number of criminal cases having come up for trial, among them a bunch for violation of the liquor laws. On several, who had been caught red handed on previous occasions, the Judge imposed a jail sentence, and it created considerable comment.

Next Monday will be the beginning of the January term of the court here, and it is expected that Judge Clopton will hold the term. There are a large number of violations of the liquor laws to be tried at that time.

Mr. W. W. Page, formerly of New York, has leased the Arlington Hotel in Cape Charles City and is having it thoroughly renovated, with the intention of opening a nice hotel about January 20th.

A move for a new Agricultural fair in this county has begun. A meeting will be held here on the 22nd, with the purpose of effecting an organization, so as to hold a fair in the Summer. Since the old Chesapeake Fair went down in 1901, no fair has been held in this county.
