Eastville, Va., May 2.--The examination of teachers for the public schools of the county is being held here today by Superintendent L. L. Nottingham, assisted by Professor T. J. Coles. There are only a few applicants present, as a number of the teachers hold professional certificates and some of them attend the summer normals.

Some of the material for building the new jail at this place has been received. The work will begin at an early day and the structure is to be finished by the latter part of August.

The Northampton Fair Association will not try to hold a meeting this year. The organizers could not get together, so all effort to hold one will be suspended for the present.
