Eastville.

The Christian farm, in the upper part of this county, was recently sold by the administrator, Mr. Minton Talbot, of Norfolk. The purchasers were Dr. S. S. Kellam and Mr. Ira Mapp. About eighty acres, containing the old home, was reserved. The remaining 240 acres brought $7600. The timber has been mostly cut away.

The farm on which resides Mr. R. N. Harrel, of near Marionville, was sold Saturday. The purchaser was Mr. J. H. DeWald, who bid it in at $4700. The place has about 140 acres.

This has been a continuous hot spell since Sunday. Today the thermometer here registers 87 degrees in the shade. There is a good breeze, but work out in the sun is very severe and those who still have potatoes to pick have difficulty to induce the workmen to go into the fields. The price of potatoes has not kept up well. They are reported to be down to $2 in New York. Many go in bad condition, on account of the delay in transportation.
