Eastville, Va., July 16. -- The great bulk of the round potato crop of this county has now gone to the markets, but owing to the scarcity of barrels at the local factories, as the difficulty of securing them from a distance, a number of farmers have still a considerable number to ship. The price this morning jumped to $2.60 in Newark, N. J. This is a considerable improvement over last week. The shippers have to be exceedingly particular in the matter of not sending off scalded stock. The yield in most cases has been all that they could desire.

The weather, which had let up for several days, has come out hot again, and today the thermometer is reaching up to the 90's.

The work of repairing the rectory, in anticipation of the new minister, Rev. Mr. Pendleton, has been done. He is expected in a short time.
