Eastville, January 23 -- There was a very enthusiastic meeting here yesterday of some of the most progressive people of the county who are interested in starting a Northampton county fair. Mr. O. F. Mears, of this place, acted as chairman.

During the meeting, which lasted several hours, a number discussed the prospect for a fair and the merits of location. After considerable expression of views, the meeting voted that a fair should be held every year in the county, and that stock to the amount of $7,500 be raised, and a committee was appointed to take subscriptions. The meeting adjourned to January 29th, when it is hoped to perfect the organization. In discussing the question of location those present seemed to favor either a site near here or Cape Charles as the only available ones. The old Chesapeake grounds, near Cape Charles City, are beautifully located, facing Chesapeake Bay, and could hardly be improved upon, while here near Eastville, a most attractive location can be built near the station, facing Broadwater Bay.

Mr. C. A. McKinney, postmaster in charge for Cape Charles City, and Mr. C. G. Smithson the collector at that port recently received appointment for their [illegible] term of four years. They have made [illegible] officials in each capacity.
