A Vast Crowd -- Interesting Race Events.

ONANCOCK, Va., via TASLEY, VA., August 24. -- (Special.) -- The crowd reached high-water mark at the Peninsula fair-grounds at Tasley this morning, another delightful day bringing to the grounds the largest number of people ever seen upon any occasion on the Eastern Shore. As predicted in yesterday's dispatches, fully 6,000 persons passed through the gates. The rush was so great that several stations on the railroad sold out of tickets entirely. One train alone, the south-bound, brought over 2,000 people. The large grand stand was so crowded that the management is said to have ordered the sale of tickets to cease. The track was again in fine condition, and the entries and contests full of snap and vim.
