Cape Charles, Va., August 17.

About one thousand people attended the Chesapeake Agricultural Fair to-day, although the wind blew a gale, and at times was almost strong enough to lift persons off their feet. A drizzling rain set in about 10 o'clock which put a stop to all sports until about 3 o'clock this afternoon, when the storm abated sufficiently for racing.

On account of the late start the third race was postponed. The first and second races were won in straight heats by Minnie Brooks and Rubico.

A game of ball was attempted by the Crisfield, Md., and Cape Charles teams, but had to be abandoned on account of the storm, after the second inning, when the score stood 5 to 5.
