Onancock.

The steamer Jane Mosely, of the Clyde line, made her first trip from Fosque & Boggs wharf, last Wednesday, according to announcement. She had a good freight and several passengers.

Mr. S. R. Nelson is having a handsome dwelling erected on the corner of Market and Joynes streets.

Potatoes sold in Baltimore market last Wednesday in Jersey truck baskets $1 -- barrel, good stock $5.

Mr. Douglas Fletcher refused this week the sum of $250 for a promising colt owned by him. Mr. John R. Sturgis has the finest Clay colt in this section. It is two years old and turns the scales at 875 pounds.

Harmanson-West Camp of Confederate Veterans, will meet at Cape Charles, Va., on Wednesday, August 10th. The members and all others feeling an interest in the erection of a Memorial to the memory of those who lost their lives for the lost cause, are requested to be present.

Pungoteague Camp-Meeting.

Infrastructure -- Public : Camp meetings

The Pungoteague camp-meeting will begin on Thursday, August 4th, at 8 p. m., with a service to be conducted by Rev. J. D. Hank, P. E. We desire as large an audience as possible at this service.

On Friday the introductory sermon will be preached by Rev. W. R. Crowder, of Eastville circuit, at 11 a. m. -- preaching at 3 p. m., by Rev. A. R. Goodchild, of Cape Charles City -- at 8 p. m., by Rev. G. W. Matthews, of Arkansas.

Social meeting every day at 9 a. m.

We cordially invite ministers and members of all churches and people of every community.

Picnic and Regatta.

Tourists and sportsmen -- Other recreation - Boat racing

The public generally and the ladies and children especially are invited to attend a picnic and regatta on the 18th of August, at Buzzard Hill, on Nandua Creek. No efforts will be spared to make it an enjoyable and pleasant occasion.

In addition to the usual private individual preparations, there will be an abundance of confectioneries, ice cream, lemonade, etc.

In order to enhance the interest, pleasure and amusement of the occasion a beautiful silver pitcher and cup, which may be seen at the store of Ayers Bros. &Co., in Pungoteague, will be given to the fastest sailing boat not over 30 feet in length. After which smaller premiums will be given to other competitors.
