Onancock (Accomac County) Va., February 15.

Onancock merchants, beginning to realize the advantage of Norfolk over Baltimore, are commencing to deal more extensively there.

Mr. George H. Reed, of Read's wharf, Northampton, whose storehouse and contents were destroyed by fire recently, says that the loss occasioned by the fire was $6000 which was partly covered by insurance, the exact amount of which was $3700. Six negroes have been arrested and imprisoned, charged with burglarizing and setting fire to the store, one of whom has turned State's evidence. A special grand jury was ordered for the next term of Northampton County Court at this term of court, of which time action in the above case will be taken.

Yesterday and today was the stormiest experienced this Winter. The weather was warm. It is feared some damage to coastwise vessels will be the result.

John Edwards, the negro, who was tried, found guilty and sentenced this week in Northampton county, for cutting a negro waiter at the Arlington Hotel, Cape Charles City, some months ago, to three years in the penitentiary, was taken to that institution the last of the week.
