Recently the authorities of the New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk Railroad have thoroughly repaired and shelled the track, making, it is said, one of the best tracks in the State.

Interest in the taking of the census here is growing, and a comparison of estimates given by consistent persons about the growth in population of the Eastern Shore, gives an average (according to these estimates) of: For Accomac, about 30,000 population, including white and colored, which would make a gain of about 800. With the increased population land has advanced considerably, and the future is indeed bright for her. It is predicted that Norfolk and the Eastern Shore, whose unparalleled growth in the past assures us of a great future in business operations, may thus convert their natural advantages.

John H. Killmon, a worthy and well-to-do citizen of lower Accomac, has become insane from imagining the water on his farm to have been poisoned.
