The very interesting ceremony of laying the corner-stone of Eastville Y. M. C. A. building took place on Thursday last, as had been previously announced. The occasion was one of great interest and pleasure to the good people of that community. A vast assemblage was in attendance, including representatives from both the Norfolk and Portsmouth Y. M. C. A. Associations. Two Masonic lodges officiated in laying the stone, after which Mr. Henry L. Upshur, the efficient president of the Eastville Association, introduced Rev. A. S. Lloyd, of Norfolk, who delivered a most earnest and impressive address.

The day closed very pleasantly with a "5 o'clock tea," served by the ladies of the auxiliary, from which a handsome sum was realized for the building fund.
