Onancock, July 17, 1889.

James Shield, the young white man who broke out of Accomack county jail last Saturday night, has not been arrested. He was serving out a term of six months for housebreaking and stealing some tobacco and a jug of whiskey.

The first sweet potatoes of the season were shipped from here last Saturday. Several more barrels were shipped to Baltimore on the steamer that left here this afternoon. They bring fancy prices at first.

The Cape Charles Echo (newspaper) has been sold to Captain George P. Savage and consolidated with the Cape Charles Headlight, of which Captain Savage is editor.
