Onancock.

Mrs. Arthur Coard, whose sudden departure from her husband after their marriage in Baltimore has been the subject of much comment here, returned here on the steamer yesterday and is now at her husband's home near Leemont. There is some talk of her bringing suit for damages against certain newspapers and reporters for misrepresentations and defamation of character.

Mr. Tully A. T. Joynes, the newly appointed postmaster at Onancock, has taken charge of the office. He retains Mr. Edward E. Miles as his assistant, and the office will be kept where it has been for the past two years.

Sweet potatoes are beginning to go to market in considerable quantities and are bringing $6 a barrel.
