Mr. J. J. Bunting passed through Cape Charles yesterday in charge of Sheriff J. T. W. Custis and Mr. Colonna on his way to the penitentiary in Richmond. His family did not know of his arrival here until it was too late for them to see him. Mr. Bunting seemed greatly distressed and completely broken down. Quite a number of his old friends were at the depot to see him before his departure.

Rev. Mr. Hope filled the pulpit of the Baptist Church Sunday in the absence of its pastor, Rev. J. W. Turner, who has been in Accomac county helping to organize temperance lodges.

A large force of men was in town from Baltimore, working upon the Catholic Church. They are making fast progress with it and it will be one of the handsomest structures in this section.

Cape Charles will soon have a military company. the name selected is "The Cape Charles Light Infantry."
