Eastville, March 22.

An effort is being made by the citizens of Cape Charles to have the county seat of Northampton removed from Eastville to that place. An offer of sufficient land for all county purposes and ten thousand dollars in cash for buildings has already been made. It is hardly probable that the tax-payers will consent to the removal unless a much larger sum is offered.

An effort is also being made there to start a national bank. Twenty thousand dollars has thus far been subscribed.

Many of the farmers say that the long wet spell will cause a great loss in this county, as the early peas that have been planted have all rotted and will have to be replanted. In addition to which the effects of the fertilizers used are in a great measure destroyed.

A special grand jury was in session to-day, and found a true bill of indictment against G. Jefferson Adair for the premeditated and wilful murder of Peter B. Smith on the 12th of this month, an account of which has already been published; also, a true bill against Robert E. Lee (colored) for maliciously cutting, with intent to kill William Floyd. Both cases will be tried at the April term of the court, which with the retrial of Bunting will make one of the most interesting courts for many years.
