Onancock.

Burk Smith, a well-known farmer living in Custis' Neck, in the lower part of Accomack County, got into a dispute several days ago with some tenants of his named Beasley -- father and two sons -- over the division of corn crop raised by the Beasley's. A fight ensued in which Smith is said to have proved too much for the Beasleys, when one of the young Beasleys ran to the house, snatched up a gun and shot Smith in the face, inflicting painful but not dangerous injuries. The difficulty grew out of an old feud which began nearly one year ago, and led to a hostile collision last summer, when both sides were put under bonds to keep the peace.
