Capt. J. S. Davis, of Davis's wharf, this county, has invented and patented improved grapnel tongs for catching oysters, clams, sponge, or any substance growing in deep or shallow water, or for the removal of wreckage, logs, &c. The tongs are operated by ropes, and the whole apparatus is described as very simple, easily handled and effective.

The Southern Methodist church at Pungoteague will be dedicated by Rev. Adam C. Bledsoe, D. D., on Sunday morning, Nov. 11th, at 11 o'clock.

The steamer Lancaster run to this place by the Baltimore Fruit and Produce Exchange, made her first trip on Saturday last, landing at Bagwell's wharf. She left Tuesday evening, carrying 800 barrels of potatoes form this wharf and 200 from Parker's wharf.

Wachapreague.

A new enterprise in the shape of an oyster shucking establishment has been started at this town by Messrs. Powell, Garrison & Mears and the oystermen and shuckers hereabouts are "making hay while the sun shines."

Three steamers of Capt. Foote have caught millions of "old wives" during this month, necessitating the running of the factory almost continuously day and night.

Large quantities of trout and other fish have recently been caught by our fishermen at sea.
