The sloop Zulu Chief, from Atlantic City, with a party of six gentlemen bound to Yorktown, went ashore in a storm on Hog Island, near life saving station No. 9, during the night of October 7th . The party was rescued and supplied with provisions and their boat hauled off next morning by the crew of said station.

A fishing boat, having on board Messrs. Ezekiel Bloxom, Elijah Milliner, and James Watson, was capsized near Cedar Island on the 22nd day of October last, and the whole party would have been drowned but for the timely aid of Capt. J. B. Whealton and crew of life saving station No. 8.

The new church now being built by the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South promises to be a handsome and imposing structure when completed.

Mr. George W. Coard, under whose skillful hand houses arise as if by magic, is now engaged in building a dwelling for Mr. T. C. Kellam, of Locustville.
