Four fodder stacks were destroyed by fie on Friday night of last week, on the premises of Mr. Jeff D. Mears, near Keller. It was the act doubtless of a gang of thieves, one of whom was caught by him and sent to jail a few days ago.

Transportation -- Railroad - Litigation
The New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk Railroad Company carried about forty trainmen to Norfolk on Monday morning to testify for the company in the suit brought by Jim Kid, the showman, against the Pennsylvania railroad for damages to his stock amounting to $10,000. The trial commenced Tuesday in the Portsmouth Hustings Court.

Chincoteague.
R. L. Holliday, superintendent of D. M. & V. R. R., has notified J. E. Matthews, proprietor of Atlantic Hotel, that the Governor and representatives of the Delaware Legislature wish to be entertained at his hotel at the end of the session for a few days.
A railroad to Chincoteague is now talked of. Mr. D. J. Whealton, Dr. N. S. Smith and others, it is stated, recently met the officials of the Baltimore, Chesapeake and Atlantic Railway Company at Ocean City with that object in view. If built it is to run from Ocean City along the coast to Chincoteague.
The sanctified band sold at public auction, on last Saturday, all their real estate and personal property, and will leave for North Carolina as soon as possible. They expect to take all with them that cannot afford to pay their way by sail boats -- and among them will be husbands deserting their wives and wives deserting their husbands.

W. T. Bundick left by the early train on Monday morning for Norfolk and will deliver lectures on the Keeley cure for drunkenness in West Norfolk, Portsmouth and Berkley; thence he will proceed to Richmond and after spending some 10 days in that city commence a lecture tour through the State in the Keeley interest.

Parksley.
Mr. D. H. Johnson has bought his bricks and other material and will soon begin to build his storehouse at Parksley.
The Uncle Tom Cabin Company held an entertainment at Parksley last Tuesday night, and had quite a large audience.
D. F. White surveyed the line between Accomac and Worcester counties last week, and ascertained that J. C. Outen's store is in Virginia.

The Board of the Chesapeake and its Tributaries met yesterday, passed some accounts, and ordered the regular necessary repairs to the boats to be made. Captain Hudgins, commanding the fleet, was before the board. He says that with few exceptions the oyster-inspectors report that collection this season were as good as last season.
Captain Baylor returned yesterday from the Eastern Shore, where he went to make certain resurveys authorized under the act providing for the general survey. These resurveys complete Captain Baylor's field-work, and close the general survey against any reopening.
Ashore on Smith's Island.

The two-masted schooner Henry Parker, in ballast, from New York, en route to Norfolk, Va., went ashore Tuesday afternoon four miles southwest of Smith's Island. The crew of six men were saved by the Life Saving crew of Smith Island, and the captain thinks the schooner will be a total loss.
