On Chincoteague Island.

The Rev. John T. Edmundson, pastor of the Beulah Baptist Church, on Chincoteague Island is in the city presenting to his Baptist brethren a plea for assistance in building a parsonage there. His church has a membership of sixty-five, principally poor fishermen. There are 2000 people on the island not Christians, and many of them cannot read. Mr. Edmundson has a laborious field, and an important one. His salary is but $9.60 per week, upon which he must support his family of wife and four children. A lady of Chincoteague is now paying his rent until a house can be built. A lot has been secured and Mr. Edmundson is now striving to raise a sum sufficient to erect a modest residence. He will be thankful for any contributions to his practical Christian object. He wishes to have the money before attempting to build, as he does not wish to have the embarrassment of debt over his little fold. Those who will may send money to Mr. L. P. Roberts, Norfolk, to be forwarded. To help this cause will be to throw bread upon the waters which will surely return to bless.
