Moral -- Murder

Ernest Snead, colored, convicted at a late term of the county court of murder in the second degree and sentenced to seven years confinement in the penitentiary was taken by Eugene R. Mason, State guard, last Wednesday morning.

Captain B. F. Crockett, schooner Alice and Anna, has gone for a cargo of sash, doors and other building material for the M. E. Church, South.

The Margaret Academy building is being renovated and improved. A furnace is being placed in the cellar for the heating of the rooms, and pipe is being laid from the water main and the building will be supplied with hot and cold water. Altogether the improvements are great, and will give pleasure and comfort to the occupants. Rev. Mr. Robinson, head master, is untiring in his efforts in every line to have a fine school here.

Sewer pipe is being laid in some of the important drains of our streets.

Private pipes are being laid from the water main to business houses and dwellings.

Mr. Thomas Fletcher and family, of Jenkins Bridge, will remove their residence to this town, and will take the dwelling occupied at present by the family of Mr. F. P. Brent. They will come here for the purpose of educating their children.

Fifty carloads of soldiers passed through our town Wednesday en route from Santiago to their homes.

E. Colona, D. W. Lewis, Roy D. White and H. J. McCready assisted the Cape Charles base ball team in a game of ball against Capeville this week.
