ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

April Term, 1887.

Inquisition held by Wm. S. Hope, J.P., and acting coroner over unknown body filed.

Inquisition held by R. R. Stant, J.P., and acting coroner, over body of Ezekiel Chapman Marriner, filed.

R. R. Hutchinson, inspector of oysters for the 9th district, returned report for quarter ending 28th of February 1887. Amount collected $168.98 -- amount due State $152.09.

Abednego T. Fisher resigned as guardian of Tully G. and Wm. Fisher.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed, to wit: Orphan accounts of Douglas Topping, Manie C., Elijah W., Irwin and Karsner M. Sturgis, Mary Ann Ward's account with committee, audits of estates of Louis S. Beloate, Robert Hall, Jr., Hannibal Fletcher, Wm. Ward, Sr., and Thomas A. Duncan.

Annie L. Sturgis' orphan account was continued till next term.

Authority to celebrate the rites of matrimony was granted to Rev. James W. Easley.

Alex. Ames qualified as guardian of Maria Sarah Scarborough.

John A. Chambers qualified as committee of Euphemma Spence.

Mariah Parkers' will was probated and Charles Parkes of J., qualified as executor.

Accounts against the Commonwealth for services in criminal matters were allowed as follows: T. W. Blackstone, J.P., $2; J. C. Wescott constable, $4.32; Duffield Savage, $18; James H. Fletcher, Jr., attorney for Commonwealth, $99.

Liquor license in Pungoteague district were granted as follows: Alfred S. Kellam, to keep an "ordinary" at Powelton, Alfred S. Bull, bar room at Fair Oaks, George N. Trower bar room at Dunkirk, Wm. C. West, bar room at Bull Branch, Tully W. Parker, bar room at Bobtown.

Petition of Henry C. Walker and others for public road. Report of viewers filed and order to summon proprietors and tenants to show cause against.

Orders on county treasurer in road and bridge matters were entered as follows, to wit: for Thos W. Blackstone, Joseph S. Bull, W. H. Boggs, Edward East, James H. Beloate and Wm. T. Broughton $1 each; John Brittingham, John O. Selby and Wm. L. Nock $3 each, A. S. Taylor and Ira Hopkins $4 each; George W. Evans $14; Wm. F. Watson, John H. Ross, Jas. D. Bull and John R. Sturgis $1 each; George T. Clayton, James H. Beloate, Wm. T. Mason and Thos. W. Blackstone $2 each.

Petition of J. C. Wescott and others to repair road from Pennyville to Boggsville. Report of viewers filed and necessary expenditure certified to Board of Supervisors for approval.

Petition of Daniel B. Marshall and others for repairing public road from corner of Capt. Tom Marshall's to Persimmon Gut bridge filed and viewers appointed.

Certificate to obtain license to manufacture oil or manure from fish known as alewives or menhaden was granted to "The American Fish Guano Company" Hoffman's Wharf.

Certificates to obtain license to control seines to catch above named fish were granted Wm. K. Read and Thos. D. Dize, respectively.

Authority to purchase materials and repair public bridges was granted McComas Justice, Surveyor of the road.

Authority was granted D. Henry Dennis to change the road leading from Wallop's road at Temperanceville to Sea Side county road.

Order entered appointing Leonard H. Ames a commissioner to receive bids and let to lowest bidder the repairs or improvements at Cypress and Church branches, recommended by the commissioners.

Edward T. Gibbons qualified as guardian of Alice Downing.

The Commonwealth vs. Duffield Savage, (on indictment for selling intoxicating liquor). Defendant tried and verdict of guilty and fine assessed at $100. Motion to set aside verdict and grant defendant a new trial was overruled by the Court and judgment was entered against defendant for $100 fine, the costs of prosecution, and thirty days imprisonment in county jail. Execution of the judgment was postponed for fifteen days to allow defendant to apply to circuit court for writ of error.

The Commonwealth vs. James Sniall, (on indictment for selling intoxicating liquor.) Defendant tried and verdict of guilty. Motion for new trial entered by defendant and sustained by the Court -- verdict set aside and new trial granted. Thereupon nolle prosequi entered by consent of the Court.

Petition of Wm. A. Burton and others for public road from Oak Grove church to Melfa station -- viewers appointed.

Petition of Wm. L. Conant and others for public road. Order appointing commissioners to ascertain the just compensation for the lands of J. F. Williams and others to be taken.

Rules were awarded against Wm. J. Barnes, George E. Webb, and James Bagwell, witness, and Robert W. Walker, juror, for failing to attend.

Order entered authorizing Upshur B. Quinby, administrator of Geo. J. Dix, deceased, to make partial distribution of estate without requiring refunding bonds.

Petition of Levin T. Crowson and others to repair road. Order to summon proprietors to show cause against.

John W. Gillett qualified as guardian of Etta G., George D., Sarah T., and Wm. J. Parker, orphans of James H. Parker, deceased.

John W. Bunting resigned as guardian of John Alfred and Sidney Daisey.

Petition of Jno. M. Bloxom and others for public road from Mappsville to Hallwood station. The necessary expenditure certified to Board of Supervisors for approval or rejection.

Petition of Levin W. Nock and others for public road. Report of viewers filed.

Order directing sheriff to sell schooner or bugeye Daisey and tackle and appurtenances captured by policeman Jno. S. Gaskins in violation of the oyster law to be sold at Hammocks.

Ex Parte, Petition of Jno. Alfred Daisey &c's late guardian. Petition filed by Jno. W. Bunting, late guardian who was directed to pay costs of petition and deposit balance in hand belonging to his late wards in Marine bank of Norfolk on interest account.

Ordered that a special grand jury be empannelled at the May term next (1st day).
