ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings at October Term:

Thomas H. Bayly Browne was appointed and qualified as commissioner in chancery.

T. H. Bayly Browne was designated to make up and state accounts of Samuel T. Ross, administrator of John M. Parker, deceased.

B. B. Ewell, administrator of Charles Parks of N., appeared into court and gave new bond of larger penalty.

Letters of administration were granted to Louis F. Boggs on estate of Leah M. Boggs, deceased.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered to be recorded: Audits of the estate of Solomon Marshall, Charles Parks of N., and John Saulsbury; orphan accounts of Ida L. Johnson, Comfort, Sarah and James H. Byrd and David F. Mason.

L. Floyd Nock qualified as administrator d. b. n. c. t. a. on the estate of Elizabeth A. Parker deceased.

Order entered directing commissioner to grant license to Wm. Roy, colored, for a nominal tax of 50 cents, to sell or distribute religious books, newspapers, etc.

Order entered substituting John J. Gunter, trustee in place of Benjamin T. Gunter who declines the trust in a deed from Smith Hyslop for the benefit of Jno W. Hyslop.

The grand jury returned a bill indictment against John H. Fisher for maiming.

George T. Clayton, late Justice of the Peace paid into court the sum of $5, fines collected by him of Judson and Alfred Justice for assaulting Alfred J. Sterling.

Burwell B. Ewell, J. P., paid into court $2.50 fines collected by him of Wm. Killman for assault.

George T. Gladding paid into court $5 fine collected by him of Cornelius Bonnewell for catching oysters on September 18th, 1885, without license, and further sum of $2.50, collected by him of Pollie Williams for assaulting Major Stant.

Henry C. Walker qualified as assistant of Raymond R. Hutchinson, inspector of oysters for 9th district.

Samuel J. Davis qualified as inspector of oysters for 1st district, to fill the vacancy caused by resignation of Thomas Pettit.

Accounts against Commonwealth in criminal matters were certified as follows: A. S. Taylor, J. P., $6.50; Geo T. Gladding, constable $38.85; O. W. Godwin, constable, (two accounts) $2.70 and $3.89; Solomon Warner, J. P., $5; Dr. George T. Scarburgh, $3; W. P. M. Kellam, attorney for Commonwealth, $30; Joseph W. Mears, J. P., $6; John H. Wise, sheriff and jailor, (two accounts) $151.40 and $53.

Bar room and retail license were granted to Staton F. Byrd at Mearsville, and bar room license to Preston E. Trower at Belle Haven.

Elizabeth W. Kelly vs. John Wright, (on attachment for rent); judgment for rent and costs and order for sale of attached effects of defendant.

Alfred T. White vs Charles R. Coard of John, (on attachment for rent); judgment for rent and costs and order for sale of attached effects of defendant.

D. D. Fletcher vs Jesse Dickerson, (on attachment for rent); judgment for rent and costs and order for sale of attached effects of defendant.

John H. Ross vs David F. Watson and John Chance, (on attachment for rent); judgment for rent and costs and order for sale of attached effects of defendant.

L. J. Hyslop vs William Miller, (on attachment for rent); judgment for rent and costs and order for sale of attached effects of defendant.

Geo. R. West vs Isaiah Custis, (on attachment for rent); attachment quashed on motion of defendant because improperly issued and judgment for defendant's costs against plaintiff.

Thomas P. Satchell, surveyor of road precinct No. 9 resigned, and James Turner was appointed in his place.

Order entered directing A. J. Taylor surveyor of roads to repair Jenkins' bridge.

Order entered directing Wm. S. Tunnell, surveyor of roads to repair Henderson's bridge.

Order entered directing Thorogood J. Fisher, J. H. Killman, Bennett Fentress and Maurice L. Lewis, surveyor of roads to buy materials and repair public bridges, etc.

Upon petition of Edward T. Nock and others for public road; report of viewers filed.

Upon petition of Ambrose S. Taylor and others for public road: Petition filed and order appointing viewers entered.

Joseph W. Mears, J. P., paid into court fine of $2.50 collected by him of John Bayly for assault.

Ex parte Petition of Ella E. Mears' guardian, (N. Belote). Order authorizing annual expenditure by guardian out of ward's principal for her maintenance, education and support from November 1st, 1885 to November 1st, 1888.

Ex parte Petition of Zorobabel C. Mason's executors. Order directing executors to pay cost, and to deposit residue of certain legacies in Marine bank of Norfolk.

Commonwealth vs Samuel T. Taylor, (on an indictment for murder.) Defendant appeared and was recognized to answer on 2nd day of November term.

Ashton Starks vs Benjamin Fletcher, (on appeal). Judgment of J. P. reversed and judgment for appellant.

Wm. A. Burton appointed surveyor of roads in place of Richard W. Ames, excused on account of ill health.

William Broughton vs Wm S. Mills (on appeal). Judgment of J. P. reversed and judgment for Broughton.

Jno. Palmer and J. F. Lawson, Maryland oystermen in jail under arrest, discharged on their recognizance to appear at next term and answer indictment for oystering unlawfully.

Summons awarded against George E. Bull, constable, to show cause why he should not be removed from office because of physical inability to discharge its duties.
