ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings at February Term, 1883 -- Judge Thomas C. Parramore, Presiding.

A special grand jury was em paneled and presented the following true bills of indictments: Against James Bayly, for breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny, in the day time, the dwelling house of Solomon Bird; tried, convicted and sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment in county jail, and to pay a fine of $25. Against same, for breaking and entering in the daytime, with intent to commit larceny, the dwelling house of Alfred J. Mears; tried convicted, and sentenced to 4 years imprisonment in penitentiary. Against same for stealing buffalo robe of Dr. George W. LeCato; tried, convicted, and sentenced to 15 days in county jail. Against Edwin E. Dennis for permitting unlawful gaming at his house of entertainment (2 indictments.) Against same, for unlawfully keeping open his bar room and unlawfully selling intoxicating bitters and other drinks. Against Benjamin L. Pollett, for unlawfully keeping an eating house. Against Thomas F. Coleburn, for unlawfully keeping open his bar room and unlawfully selling intoxicating bitters and other drinks. Against George O. Satchell, for unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon. Against Major Rayfield, for wilful trespass. Against same, for maliciously burning fodder stacks. (A jury empaneled for the purpose, ascertained that Mr. Rayfield was insane, and the Court dismissing the said indictments, ordered that Mr. R. be confined in a Lunatic Asylum.) The grand jury ignored a bill against Fillmore White, for transacting business without having paid a license tax.

A deed of release from Francis T. Boggs, trustee, and another to Asa J. Crockett; proved and ordered recorded.

A deed from Benj. F. Parks to John J. Gunter, trustee for Francis D. Parker, acknowledged and ordered recorded.

Last will of Louis S. Roberts, dec'd; proved and ordered recorded.

Last will of Rike Stephens, dec'd; proved and ordered recorded

Last will of Wm. S. Fletcher, dec'd; proved and ordered recorded.

Geo. M. Fisher qualified as administrator of James P. Fisher's estate.

Orders on County Treasurer in road and bridge matters, were entered as follows; Joseph H. Savage, $8; Wm. H. Lewis, $6; L. D. Lewis & Sons, $4; Thorogood Mason, Levin D. Lewis and Albert Gillespie, $1 each; and Jas. E. F. Ayers, $6.90.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered to be recorded, to wit; Jackson D. Tunnell's audit; James H. Hoffman's audit and Henry Bivins' audit; the orphan accounts of Thos. J. Richardson, Georgie S., Jackson L. and Edwin A. Walter.

Joseph H. Savage resigned as surveyor of road precinct No. 9 of Pungoteague district, and George W. Turlington appointed in place of.

Christopher Satchell resigned as surveyor road precinct No. 22 of Lee district, and Maurice Lewis appointed in his place.

Andrew H. J. Mears qualified as administrator c.t.a. of A. Wilson Ashby, deceased.

James Northam's adm'r. c.t.a. vs. Robert Ayres, attachment for rent; continued till next term.

Jas. T. Hurst vs. Wm. H. Grant, colored, unlawful detainer; verdict and judgment for defendant.

Order directing creditors, if any, of Wm. B. Walker, dec'd., to show cause against distribution of his estate without refunding bonds being required of distributees.

Ex parte petition of Bettie W. Lewis, &c.'s late guardian; order directing commissioner of accounts to state accounts and report.

Wm. L. Nock, constable, paid in the court fines amounting to $11 collected by him.

Orders were entered directing Wm. H. B. Custis, Clerk and Receiver, to pay to Joseph G. Beloate (2 cases), Sidney M. Hancock, and E. W. George, assignee of John E. Hickman, the compensation allowed for their lands to be taken by the Peninsula railroad company.

James G. Fox qualified as Notary Public for the county of Accomac.

The commissioners to view Pitts' wharf road reported; their report was adopted by the Court, and the surveyor ordered to make improvements accordingly, if the expenditure is approved by the Board of Supervisors.

Geo. A. Fowler's bar room license transferred from Hawk's Nest to Middlesex.

Paul Savage's bar room license, at Onancock, was transferred from himself to Wellington M. Scott.

Bar room liquor license was granted Geo. W. Lacinerson at Sign Post.

Charles H. Bloxom's estate was committed to the Sheriff for administration.

Last will of Ann L. Riley, deceased, was fully proved and ordered recorded.

George W. Mason qualified as administrator, c.t.a. of Rike Stephens, deceased.

Jas. E. F. Ayers, ordered to repair public bridge in his precinct and afterwards make report.

Chas. K. Taylor vs. Wm. T. Flemming; on appeal -- continued till next term.

Noah H. Drummond was tried for disturbing religious worship at Pocomoke Chapel, and convicted and sentenced to thirty days in county jail and fined $25 and cost of prosecution.

A deed from Thos. W. Bull and Jno. W. Gillet, special comm'rs to Benj. T. Gunter, was acknowledged and ordered recorded.

Henry Lang vs. Henry Mason; attachment for rent -- continued till next term.

Ex parte petition of Sally J. Russell's trustee (Edward J. Russell). Order for payment of costs, and for deposit in Marine Bank.

Geo. E. Roberts, Surveyor of road precinct No. 20 of Pungoteague district, ordered to build a public bridge over the branch leading into head of Matchapungo Creek, if expenditure authorized is approved by Board of Supervisors.

George F. Parramore was appointed reviewer in the following rail road cases; to wit: Joseph G. Beloate, John P. McMath, John S. Martin, Jas. H. Beloate and Elizabeth Ross.

A bill of sale from James S. Sturgis to Wm. Rue & Brother was ordered recorded.

A receipt from Upshur B. Quinby, trustee, to John R. Parker's Adr. was acknowledged and ordered recorded.

An account of Jno. J. Blackstone, Treasurer, for payment to jurors veniremen in felony cases, was allowed and certified.

Petition of Eliza Gardner, to set aside report of commissioners in railroad matter, was withdrawn by consent of company.

Commonwealth vs. Wm. Bayly; former proceedings on indictment for disturbing religious worship -- and alias summons to answer indictment awarded.

Order appointing Registrars for the several voting precincts was duly entered.
