ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, February Term, 1900.

Joshua T. Sharpley qualified as Notary Public for county of Accomac.

The clerk reported to the court the list of fines reported to him in January, 1900, by Justice of the Peace.

The sheriff made report to the Judge of the number of prisoners in jail, their offences &c.

Last will of Montcalm Oldham Jr., deceased, was proved and James H. Fletcher Jr., qualified as executor.

Last will of John H. Bayly (colored) was proved and ordered to be recorded.

A paper writing, signed by the members of the Bar recommending Robert H. Oldham as clerk of county court to fill the unexpired term of Montcalm Oldham Jr., deceased, presented to the Judge in vacation, ordered to be filed with the court papers of the term.

Petition of Joshua H. Turner and others for a public road. Report of viewers filed and order entered, for proprietors and tenants to appear on first day of next term, to show cause, if any they can, why said road should not be opened and established as proposed.

Peter F. Reid vs. James H. Hopkins, (on attachment for rent). Report of constable filed and confirmed and order entered removing cause from docket.

Last will of Sally Barnes, deceased, proved and ordered to be recorded.

Letters of administration were granted to Catharine E. Parker on the estate of Robert J. Parker, deceased.

A special grand jury was empanelled and returned, "true bills": Three against John H. Matthews for unlawfully selling wine, spirituous and malt liquors and a mixture thereof, one against Ephraim Hickman for unlawfully selling spirituous and fermented liquors, and one against Frank Fisher, William Fisher (of John) and John W. Cutler, for unlawfully and feloniously breaking in night time, a barn.

Upon petition of L. T. Ross and others for a public road. Order entered for road machine manager to open road and build bridge according to report of viewers.

Ex parte: Petition of Samuel A. Godwin and others for a drain. Petition filed and commissioners appointed to view lands of petitioners and of others through which a drain is desired, to estimate with the assistance of a competent surveyor, if necessary, the distance and size of every ditch they lay out, cost of making same, the damage, if any to whom payable, the proportion which each party benefitted shall pay, whether said ditch or ditches shall cross a public road &c.

Upon petition of J. W. Williams and others for a public road. Order approving road and referring expenditure to Board of Supervisors.

Isaac N. Hearn vs. Sewall H. Richardson (on an attachment). Order for sheriff to withdraw $161.67 bond, collect same and after deducting commissions and costs to pay over same to plaintiff.

Upon motion of Robert R. White's alienee to assign dower to his widow, Sallie E. White. Order confirming report of commissioner and removing cause from docket.

Order entered authorizing James H. Satchell to assign his retail liquor license to J. Lee Justis, which was originally granted to said Justis at his house at Parksley.

Order entered authorizing Isaiah T. Johnson, to transfer his retail liquor license from Parksley to Leemont. Upon motion of Avery Donovan and others a rehearing was ordered, whereupon application was withdrawn.

Commonwealth vs. Upshur Kellam (on indictment for felony). Tried and convicted, not of grand larceny as alleged in indictment, but of petit larceny and sentenced to five months confinement in jail and to pay a fine of five dollars and costs of prosecution.

Last will of Nancy Parks, deceased, proved and James A. Barnes and Ephraim J. Wessells qualified as executors.
