ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, November Term, 1897.

Silverius C. Hall and Edwin T. Powell qualified, respectively, as a notary public for the county of Accomac.

John W. Richardson was appointed and qualified as a committee of Virginia S. Richardson, a person of unsound mind.

Spencer F. Rogers was appointed and qualified as deputy of Charles P. Finney, inspector of oysters for district no. 7 of Accomac.

Levin H. Revell qualified as administrator of John W. Revell, deceased; Geo. R. Mears, as administrator of Gilbert Mears, deceased; and Laura A. West as administratrix of George R. West, deceased.

Levin H. Revell was appointed and qualified as guardian of his children, Montesco B. and Minnie B. Revell; Spencer F. Rogers as guardian of Maggie E. and John T. Wright; Thomas W. Blackstone as guardian of Virginia Henrietta Scarburgh, child of Geo. T. Scarburgh.

Mary Ann Guillette's estate was committed to John H. Wise, sheriff, for administration.

Order entered substituting Benjamin G. Johnson as trustee in place of Henry X. Hall in deed from G. G. Guillette and wife for benefit of John E. Wise and James A. Hall, commissioners of County School Board.

Accounts against Commonwealth in criminal and lunacy matters were as follows: Wm. M. Taylor, $2.25 and $4.54; Henry Stotz, special constable 50 cents; Thos. G. Elliot, J.P., $1; C. C. Dix, constable, $31.55; Thos. T. Taylor, M.D., $2.50; Geo. E. Winder, $7.50; jailer, for board of prisoners, $74.85.

An application of D. Frank White, road surveyor, for the repair of the public bridge at Masonville was approved by the court, but it costing more than $30, it was referred to the Board of Supervisors.

Upon petition of Frank Fletcher and others for a public road. This case was recertified to Board of Supervisors for approval or rejection.

Upon petition of William H. Matthews and others for a public road. Order entered appointing William W. Lang a commissioner to open the road.

On application of E. J. Miles and others for a public bridge over Modestown branch. Order entered appointing Wm. K. Taylor, a commissioner to build the bridge.

Zora Parker, a prisoner in jail, was discharged, having served out his term and being unable to pay costs of prosecution for which he was detained.

Commonwealth vs. Arthur P. Kellam (on a warrant charging misdemeanor). Motion to quash warrant overruled, plea of not guilty entered a special grand jury asked for by attorney for commonwealth, allowed, and case continued for trial until second day of next term.

Commonwealth vs. James H. Harmon. Plea of not guilty entered special jury asked for by attorney for commonwealth, allowed and trial set for 2d day of next term.

Upon petition of Sydney M. Hancock and others for a public road. Order appointing Wm. L. Nock, a commissioner to advertise and receive proposals for building the road.

Upon petition of Thomas Shreaves and wife for a public road. Order opening road and for payment of land damages and costs of petition.

Petition of J. O. Mears and others for a public road. Road approved by court and referred to Board of Supervisors.

Isabella Wilkins &c's guardian vs. Isabella Wilkins &c. Petition filed by guardian and referred to commissioner of accounts.

A regular grand jury was empanneled and returned "not a true bill", an indictment vs. Jesse Rew, for felonious house breaking with intent to commit larceny and returned "true bills" against Jesse Jacobs for rape, Jacob Finney for forgery and John Cropper for larceny of a cow. The said Jesse Rew was discharged from custody and trials of said Jacob Finney and John Cropper were fixed for 4th day of next term.
