ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, September Term, 1887.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed: Emily L. Upshur &c's trust account -- audits of estates of Ann Elizabeth Ewell, Robert S. Henderson, T. P. Copes, John M. Fosque, Elizabeth A. Parker and John M. Parker -- orphan accounts of Manly F., John W., Geo. A. L., Thos. H. and Clara F. Winder.

Fines were paid into court as follows: $2.50 received by Ambrose S. Taylor, J. P., of Geo. R. Twyford and $10 received by Jno. H. Wise, sheriff, of Henry Watson.

Edward Wright, Jr., qualified as administrator of John Wright, deceased, and John E. Mapp of Edward T. Downing, deceased.

Last will of Wm. Baker, Sr., was probated and L. Floyd Nock qualified as executor.

Last will of Jno. C. Grinnalds was probated and L. Floyd Nock qualified as administrator, e.t.a.

The estate of L. W. Dunton was committed to hands of Sheriff for administration.

Accounts against Commonwealth in criminal matters were allowed as follows: Levin T. Phillips, special constable, $2; Wm. S. Hope, J.P., $2; Z. R. Mumford, J.P., $1; Geo. W. Cluff, constable, $19.42; John H. Wise, sheriff and jailor, (lunatic account) $115.78, and to same, expense of prisoners $167.10; M. Oldham, Jr., C.A.C., for recording reports of sale of delinquent lands, $15.70; Dr. Geo. T. Scarburgh, physician to jail, $27; J. H. Fletcher, Jr., attorney for Commonwealth, $5.

James T. Weaver, inspector or oysters reported $23.60, collected for three months ending August 31st, 1887.

Bar room liquor license of John W. Nottingham of Coal Kiln, was transferred to W. T. Berry & Bro., Mappsburg.

Bar room liquor license was granted to Thos. M. Chandler, at Craddockville, and to John E. West at the same place.

Order entered, directing McComas Justice, surveyor of road, to purchase material and make box across his road near residence of Prince Albert Taylor.

Report of K. J. C. Horsey, surveyor of road, of ditching certain road in his precinct, confirmed.

Report of L. H. Ames, commr. of repairs to public road at Cypress and Church branches, confirmed.

Orders on county treasurer in road and bridge matters were entered as follows: K. J. C. Horsey, $70; L. H. Ames, $15; R. J. Parker, $348.50; L. T. Crowson, $8; James L. Upon petition of H. C. Walker and others for public road. Order entered, directing road to be opened to foot of Hoffman's wharf and appointing Albro J. Morse, surveyor.

Upon petition of John M. Bloxom and others for a public road. The bid of Oliver Baker of $139.99, to build the road accepted, and John L. Gillespie, commissioner, directed to contract with him for same.

Benjamin T. Gunter, Jr., appointed deputy for W. Fred Gunter, county surveyor.

R. D. L. Fletcher appointed assistant for S. D. Fletcher, commissioner of revenue, and qualified.

Henry Finney of Wm., appointed overseer of roads in place of James L. Belote, and Louis F. Hinman was appointed in place of L. T. Crowson.

Commonwealth vs. Isaiah T. Johnson, (on indictment for selling intoxicating liquors.) Defendant tried, found guilty, fined $100 and cost of prosecution, and sentenced to imprisonment 30 days in county jail.

Order entered directing John H. Wise, sheriff and jailor, to deliver Sarah Carrier, a lunatic confined in jail to her friends or to the proper authorities of the city and State of New York, where she resides.

Semi-annual report filed by S.T. Ross, commissioner of accounts, according to law, of the sufficiency, &c., of county treasurer's official bond.

John J, Wise, M.D., John W. Gillet and Wm. H. Parker were appointed to inspect jail of the county, and being sworn afterwards made their report -- which report the sheriff was directed to lay before the Board of Supervisors at it next meeting.

Albert F. Mears vs. J. E. Poulson, (warrant removed by J.P.) Judgment for plaintiff.

Ex parte -- Petition of Caroline Daisey. Order authorizing annual checks for the support, maintenance and education of John, Sydney and Alfred Daisey.

Petition filed by Board of Supervisors for condemnation of piece of land adjacent to clerk's office lot, 16x52 feet for site for a clerk's office, and 5 freeholders appointed to assess value of same.

Upon petition of L. T. Crowson and others to repair public roads. Order directing L. T. Hinman to have certain ditching done at expense of county.

>Upon petition of John D. Parsons for public road from Atlantic to Oak Hall station. Order directing road to be opened and appointing J. D. Parsons a commissioner to have same built.

John J. Blackstone, county treasurer, made additional reports of the sales of delinquent lands from 1876 to 1884.

Upon petition of W. A. Burton and others for public road. Report of viewers filed against the road and petition dismissed.

Upon petition of Levin W. Nock and others for a public road. Report of commissioners filed.

Upon petition of attorney for the Commonwealth for forfeiture of schooner Daisey for violation of oyster law. Report of sheriff, John H. Wise, filed and confirmed, and case removed from docket.

Upon petition of Geo. W. Glenn and others for repairs on public road. Order entered dismissing of petition.

Smith Jones & Co., appellants, vs. Mark L. Stebbins, appellee, (on appeal). Evidence and arguments of counsel heard and cause continued until next term for decision and judgment.

N.Y., P.& N. R. R. Co. appellant, vs. John E. Hickman, appellee. Upon an appeal from a judgment of J.P. for $30 damages to the said Hickman for running over and killing his hogs. Judgment of J.P. in favor Hickman vs. R. R. Co., affirmed by the court.
