ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Hester A. Lang qualified as adm'x. c.t.a. of Edward T. Lang, deceased; John W. Hurst as administrator of John Hurst, deceased; and John W. Martin as administrator of George. C. Phillips, deceased.

Resignation of Michael Glennan, as guardian of Anne Belle Scarburgh, received and entered.

Estate of Alfred Trader, deceased, was committed to John H. Wise, sheriff, for administration.

The clerk reported, according to law, the list of the fines returned to him by Justices of the Peace, during the month of November, 1898.

The sheriff made report of the number of prisoners in jail, their offences, sentences, &c.

James Henry Poulson was discharged from jail, being unable to pay costs and having served out his term.

Upon petitions of John T. Nock & others and Joshua H. Turner & others for public roads (at Machipongo bridge). Report of commissioner filed showing roads to be completed and order for payment of expenses and costs and removing cause from the docket.

Wm. M. Ward vs. Moses Mills and James H. Mason vs. Isaac Turlington (on attachments for rent). Report of constable filed and order confirming reports and removing causes from docket.

Albert J. Rew vs. J. Edward Colonna's administrators (attachment). Returned and put on docket.

Thomas F. Floyd vs. Seymour Thos. Joynes (attachment). Returned and put on the docket.

Petition of O. H. Taylor and others for a public road (near Jenkins Bridge). Commissioners appointed, on motion of proprietor Miss Florence Fletcher, to ascertain a just compensation for her land to be used for the road.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed: Audits of estates of Joshua A. Chapman, John E. Bundick, John W. Revell and Edward K. Snead; trust accounts of T. Eslie Coard and wife and others; orphan accounts of Harry Thompson Mears, L. Marion, Joseph A., and Harry V. Baker, James, Susie and Effie Downing.

Ex parte: Petition of Clarence P. Custis et als' guardian. Report of J. W. G. Blackstone filed and confirmed.

The Commonwealth vs. Clinton Custis, colored, (on indictment for malicious cutting, stabbing and wounding with intent to maim, disfigure, disable and kill one Frank Tull). Defendant tried, found guilty and sentenced to four years in penitentiary.

The Commonwealth vs. Edward Burton, colored, (on indictment for selling liquor unlawfully). Nolle prose qui entered and Burton discharged.

The following accounts against the Commonwealth in criminal cases were allowed: jailor, $54.00; Constable Tankard G. Kellam, $8.63; Benjamin T. Melson, $8.45 and $1.35; clerk, $33.25; sheriff, $55.45.

The insolvent and delinquent lists for 1897, returned by the county treasurer and his deputy were examined, and certified to auditor of Public Accounts.

Upon petition of Wm. M. Needles and others for public road at Franklin City. Report of John S. Parsons, commissioner, filed showing road to be completed and order for payment of contractor, Major W. Pilchard, and costs of petitioners and commissioner and viewers, and removing cause from the docket.

Henry F. Powell qualified as notary public for the county of Accomack.
