ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, June Term, 1897.

Thomas Gardner Jr. qualified as guardian of his two children, Warner and Alfred S. Gardner.

Eugenia A. Parks qualified as administratrix, C.T.A. of Wm. B. Smith, deceased; Mary S. Fleming as administratrix of William F. Fleming, deceased; Oliver S. Townsend as administrator of Virginia E. Townsend; Geo. W. Covington as administrator of Aralanta Jones.

Solomon J. McCready vs. P. C. Tarr, on appeal; agreed, dismissed.

The last wills of Emma A. Corbin and Wm. F. Burch Sr. were proved and ordered to be recorded.

Inquest held by Dr. J. E. Brodwater, coroner for district No. 1, over the dead body of Adelia Hanson, wife of Christian Hanson, was returned to the court and filed.

Accounts against the Commonwealth in criminal cases were allowed as follows: M. Oldham Jr., clerk, $22; W. M. Taylor, J. P., $6; jailer, $33.80

Upon application, policemen were appointed for the fair grounds for the four days of the next meeting of the Eastern Shore Agricultural Association.

The following district officers elected May last, qualified: Justices of the Peace: Emory Maffit, Wm. H. Warren. James T. Tracey, L. F. J. Wilson, E. W. Hutchinson, T. G. Elliott, Geo. F. Parker, Levi R. Boggs, S. R. Nelson, Thos. G. Clayton and Luther N. Boggs; supervisors: A. J. Lilliston and J. W. Wessels; constables: Jos. C. Wescott, C. C. Dix and E. T. Ross Sr.; overseers of poor: Julius W. Ward, Samuel C. Taylor, Samuel J. Davis and Wm. M. Conant.

The court appointed Jos. L. Cooper an additional justice of the peace for Lee district, and he appeared before the court and qualified.

Wm. M. Taylor and John S. Tyler qualified as notaries public for county of Accomac.

John E. Mapp qualified as superintendent of public schools, for county of Accomac, for term beginning July 1st, 1897.

The oaths of office taken by the mayor and members of the town council of the town of Onancock were returned to the court and recorded.

Following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered to be recorded: Audits of estates of Emory J. Chase, Ira Payne, Custis M. Dunton, Wm. T. Parks, Eliza Thornton, Samuel Young of R. and Mary B. Hall, deceased; orphan accounts of Lloyd W., William E., Charles E., Emma May and Harry L. Thompson, William Bagwell and Mary Eliza Mears, Geo. Douglas, Isabella, Harriet Wise and Mary Wilkins; John Young's trust account.

Sarah A. Martin vs. Wm. S. Kellam's executor (on warrant removed by justice of peace). Judgment for plaintiff.

Commonwealth vs. A. E. Poulson (on warrant charging defendant with having on __ day of March, 1897, in Metompkin district unlawfully sold wine, spirituous and malt liquors and a mixture thereof to one Raymond Trader). Defendant tried, jury found him not guilty and he was discharged.

On petition of Sydney M. Hancock and others for a public road. Report of viewers filed, road approved by the court and certified to Board of Supervisors.

On petition of E. T. Somers and others for a public road. Report of viewers filed, road approved by the court and certified to Board of Supervisors.

Ex parte: Petition of William L. Marshall's administrator (Travis A. Crockett). Report of administrator filed and order confirming same, for payment of unpaid costs and deposit of balance in Marine Bank on interest account.
