ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, August Term, 1893.

Last will of Mrs. James A. Hall, deceased, was admitted to record.

D. Frank White was appointed and qualified as county surveyor to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of B. T. Gunter, Jr.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered recorded: Orphan accounts of Charlotte F., Annie L., and William H. Harmon; Lorenzo D., Anna L., Hester J., Sarah W. and John Q. C. Hinman; George Douglas, Isabella, Harriet Wise and Mary Wilkins; John W., Bessie S. and Claude W. Kelly -- Audits of estate of Isaiah Moore, Isaac G. Coffin, Louis S. Roberts and Jas. S. Jones, Sr. -- Trust account of David P. Mears' trust fund.

Commonwealth vs. Melville E. Witham, (on a rule for not appearing as a juror at July term). Defendant appearing and showing sufficient reason for his absence, on his motion, rule was discharged.

Lorenzo White, prisoner in county jail, having served out his term and more, not being able to pay costs and fine, was discharged.

The grand jury list of ensuing year was placed in the box by the judge.

Thorogood J. Fisher qualified as guardian of Julia E. Tindal.

Stephen J. Pilchard, surveyor of roads, filed the annual report, due from him at March term last, and his account of $10 against county for services &c., was allowed.

Commonwealth vs. Robert J. Corbin, (on indictment for taking oysters feloniously). Nolle prosequi was entered.

Commonwealth vs. George Wm. Parker, (on indictment for assault and battery). Defendant tried, acquitted and discharged.

Commonwealth vs. George West, colored, (on indictment for attempting to intimidate and impede a peace officer in the discharge of his duty). Defendant tried, convicted and fined $5 and costs of prosecution.

John E. Hickman vs. Henry T. Taylor, (on attachment for rent). Cause dismissed on plaintiff's motion.

An application of Edwin N. West, surveyor of road, to change road at a certain point of his precinct, was rejected by the court.

Upon petition of Edward T. Somers and others, to discontinue public road, from the main bayside road to Guard Shore, as to a part of its width, the court appointed viewers.

Bar room and retail liquor license were granted Carlie M. Roberts at Coal Kiln.

Commonwealth vs. Thomas Drummond, colored, (on indictment for petit larceny). Defendant tried convicted and sentenced to jail for 60 days and to pay costs of prosecution.
