ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, April Term, 1888.

Bagwell B. Ewell, J.P., paid into court $2.50, a fine received of Thorogood B. Mason for contempt of his court; also a like fine of $2.50 received of James Ewell for a like offense.

Albert G. Ashby, J.P., paid into court $20, a fine received of Edward Kellam, for injuring a horse, the property of Wm. M. Turlington.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered recorded -- orphan accounts of Claude, Bessie, John W. and George G. Kelly; Sallie E. and Mary B. Walden, Anna B. and Maggie D. Wessels, Henry L., Alberta, Ida, Sadie W., and Isaac J. Hudson -- audits of estates of Noah Parks, Edward Bloxom, Irvin Shepherd and Shepherd Downing, and trust accounts of Geo. E. Winder and wife and Louis S. Roberts and wife.

Last will of Wm. B. Jacobs, Edward Pecor, Sallie Thornton, John A. Rowley and Isaac S. Phillips were proved and ordered recorded.

R. R. Hutchinson inspector of oysters for 9th district reported collections for the 3 months ending February 29th, 1888, amounting to $146.87, due State $132.19.

Duffield Savage et als vs. Robert S. Drummond, admr. of Arthur H. Drummond, deceased (on a motion for relief as sureties.) Order removing defendant from office and judgment for plaintiff's cost.

Littleton T. Boggs qualified as admr. of Arthur H. Drummond, deceased, Levin T. Crowson as admr. of Samuel Phillips, deceased. Upshur B. Quinby as admr. d.b.n.c.t.a. of Wm. H. Parker, deceased and Upshur B. Quinby as admr. of Sallie J. Bruff, deceased.

Robert Watson was adjudged an insane person and Wm. L. Watson was appointed his committee and duly qualified.

Geo. W. Cluff, resigned as constable of the district of the Islands and Wm. M. Conant was appointed to fill the vacancy.

Wm. P. Goffigon and John A. M. Whealton qualified as notaries public for the county of Accomac.

Louis Fedder, a native of Russia, declared on oath his intention to become a citizen of the United States.

Authority to celebrate the rites of matrimony was granted to Geo. L. Hardesty, Geo. E. Wood and Henry S. Dulaney, Methodist Episcopal Church.

Certificate to obtain law license was granted to Wm. Frederic Gunter and Thomas B. Quinby.

Certificate to obtain license to manufacture oil from fish were granted to David R. Mister and the American Fish Guano Company.

Certificate to catch menhaden or alewives to be manufactured into oil, were granted to Wm. K. Reed, Thomas D. Dies, Peter Dies and John W. Johnson.

Bar room license was granted to David T. Ward at Dunkirk, Wm. T. Core at Bull Branch, John E. Bradford at Locustmount, Alfred S. Bull at Fair Oaks, Lucius J. Kellam at Belle Haven and Willie C. Walker at Pungoteague.

License to keep an ordinary (or hotel) was granted to Alfred S. Kellam at Powellton.

T. Berkely Smith was appointed surveyor of road in place of Hezekiah Fox resigned, Geo. W. Stockley in place of John T. Johnson, deceased, Wm. Waterfield in place of John W. Kellam, deceased.

Authority to purchase material and repair public bridge was granted John R. Coard, Benjamin F. Young and Geo. F. Parramore, surveyors of roads.

Order directing A. J. Morse, surveyor, to expend $160 in repairing public road from Hack's Neck road to Hoffman's Wharf.

On petition of Louis F. Marshall and others for a public road. Report of viewers filed and order to summon proprietors and tenants.

Petition of Geo. S. Mapp and others for public bridge over Heath's mill race. Report of Commissioners filed.

Commonwealth vs. Oliver and Charles Townshend (on indictment.) Continued until 2nd day of next term.

Same vs. Wm. H. Williams (on indictment for felony). Continued until next term and defendant recognized.

Commonwealth vs. John W. Hart. Continued until next term and rule awarded against William Chase, Commonwealth witness.

John W. Marsh vs. Major Crockett, on a Scire Facias. Execution awarded and judgment for plaintiff's cost.

Commonwealth vs. Ezekiel Bunting. (On an indictment for injury and destroying forest trees). Defendant tried, convicted, fined $5 and costs of prosecution.

Upon petition of Thomas H. James and others for a public road at Wachapreague city. Petition filed and order appointing viewers.

Order entered certifying proof of the heirs of Robert Milliner, deceased, late a lieutenant in the Virginia State Navy, War of the Revolution.
